Your Role

This role is critical to ensure the profitability and growth of the MGA business in Europe.

As the Underwriting Lead for MGA Governance, you will utilize your strong business acumen and underwriting experience to evaluate new and existing business opportunities, ensuring a robust UW framework with a clear risk appetite exists for our Managing General Agent business in Europe.

UW Knowledge:

Utilize strong business acumen and underwriting experience to review, assess and make recommendations regarding the coverage, structure, products and overall fit of new and existing MGA business opportunities including:

  • Capabilities to perform due diligence and assess product offerings including those not necessarily currently underwritten by Country
  • Ability to seek out and engage other SME’s (Global, other countries, UW Excellence, etc) to further assess business opportunities
  • Capability to prepare overall opportunity draft for engagement with CI as well with Country CUO and CEO warranting of their attention
  • Ability to identify and where appropriate, resolve channel conflicts
  • In conjunction with Pricing & Performance management assess potential profitability

Quality & Governance (Compliance):

Responsibility for design, control and implementation of best practice underwriting related quality and governance standards and guidelines including:

  • Identification of resolution of any external regulatory or internal compliance related needs and challenges
  • Appropriate authority issuance established and delegated to MGA as necessary
  • Oversight of the assurance related plan (including TUR’s, Spot Checks, etc) as necessary
  • Establishment of best practice
  • Serve as point for referral related activities

Monitoring Relationship:

Develop and maintain profitable and trust based relationship including:

  • Interface between MGA, business unit stakeholders, country, internal functions such as Sales, Global Technical UW, Group Re, Finance, IT, Pricing & Legal
  • Successful on-boarding, including agreement sign-offs,
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of the MGA’s business and marketing effectiveness to drive high quality solutions and further improve the brand

As the Underwriting Lead for MGA Governance your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Independent and objective
  • Collaborative

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 or more years of multi-line underwriting and or insurance product development
  • Knowledge and appreciation of legal and regulatory, governance and quality assurance related matters
  • Strong risk assessment experience
  • Solid work processing methods
  • Fluent in English, additional languages a plus
  • Ability to travel
  • Numerate with prior portfolio management experiences

Additional Information
