Internship in Software Technology for the Automation & Power Domain (80-100%)

ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with ABB business units, is developing the foundations for the next generation of ABB products. In Switzerland, ABB Corporate Research located in the proximity of Zurich, employs more than 200 scientists from 35 countries with expertise in power electronics, automation and power technologies for manufacturing, consumer and process industries as well as utilities. Our Software Technology group performs cuttingedge research in security, real-time and embedded systems, remote operations, and intelligent distributed systems. We are offering several internship positions which are competitively paid and provide the opportunity of working on real-world projects in an international team of research scientists.

Tasks:

  • Designing, programming and documenting novel software applications for the automation and power domain
  • Literature research
  • Independent research and execution of challenging project tasks under competent supervision

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Control or similar field; enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential
  • Familiarity with software development and software engineering practices
  • Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language, e.g., C, C++, Java, Python
  • Experience with real-time systems, embedded software development, security technologies, big data technologies, machine learning, operating systems, multi-core systems, parallel software design and/or robotics is a plus
  • Proficiency in English
  • Willingness to learn, high self-motivation and hands-on attitude
  • Ability to think conceptually and express ideas clearly and convincingly
