Internship in Power Electronics (100%)

ABB Corporate Research currently has an opening for a student in electrical engineering to join its Power Electronic Converters Group in Baden-Dättwil as an Intern for a period of six months. We offer a friendly, international work environment with the possibility to be part of industrial research projects. An internship at ABB Corporate Research is an excellent way to obtain industrial work experience, to meet people from many different countries, and to learn to apply theory to practice. Tasks:

  • Assist in the design of power electronic converter systems
  • Perform multi-physics simulations of individual components
  • Create technical reports and present your results to experts in power electronics
  • Make video tutorials to help people understand the intricacies of your work, use it and even develop it further in the future

Requirements:

  • Master student in electrical engineering or related fields (official enrollment is essential)
  • Good knowledge in power electronics (basic topologies, semiconductors, capacitor banks, cooling and magnetics)
  • Experience with circuit simulators and Finite Element Method (FEM) tools is a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced MATLAB programming skills, a plus is your experience with C/C++ and Java
  • Creative and artistic mindset for making videos
  • Fluent command of English

  • Non-EU/EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of studies, is required for the visa application.
