To further strengthen our organization we are looking for an enrolled PhD Student to join our team.

In this position you will join a highly motivated team devoted to cancer research. The team specializes in the development of histological techniques that characterize the immune-phenotype of preclinical in vivo cancer models and also aimed to understand the mode of action of clinical drug candidates in tissue sections by mans of multiplex staining. This will require experience in:

  • Mouse handling experience
  • Handling of automated tissue processor and paraffin autoembedder machines
  • Frequent paraffin block preparation and sectioning
  • Frozen cryostat sectioning
  • Basic histology stainings, H&E, tricromic between others.
  • Immuno-histochemistry tecniques: fluorescent and chemical dual labelling procedures
  • Multiplex staining, in situ Hybridization
  • Standard microscopy and scanner microscopy both Olympus and Ventana platform
  • Confocal microscopy
  • Good knowledge of tissue quantification software like Definiens, Halo and Visioform.
  • Presentation of results to the team

For this interesting position in a dynamic environment we are looking for a PhD student who is enrolled at University. You have a high degree of self-motivation and are eager to learn new technics. You are also inquisitive and strive for continuous process improvement. In addition you interact effectively with a truly multinational team of scientists. You have experience in cancer research and onco-immunology studies. You are able to work independently and as part of a team. Laboratory experience in the following areas is mandatory.

  • Mouse handling
  • Microtome sectioning
  • Cryo-sectioning
  • Standard and immuno-staining techniques, multiplex technology
  • Microscopy Scanner and confocal scanner
  • Tissue quantification softwares
  • Graph-Pad Prism software
  • Good knowledge of English is required
