In HR-IT we analyze, consult and deliver state-of-the art IT solutions for HR for Roche globally.

Your main accountabilities will be:

  • Work together with our data scientists to develop analytical decision-making systems for our business
  • Understand complex and critical business problems across various functions and translate them into feasible technical specifications
  • Integrate and manipulate data from multiple data sources, utilize machine learning algorithms to turn raw data into actionable insights and solutions
  • Develop systematic approaches for algorithm evaluation, application maintenance and automation
  • Research on artificial intelligence best practice and other cutting-edge technology in the area of HR IT

What do you need in your toolbox?

  • Enrolled in a university / bachelor or master degree program in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Electronic Engineering, Computational Biology, Economics or any other quantitative discipline
  • English language fluency and good writing/communication skills

You’re someone who is…

  • Passionate about utilize statistical modeling and machine learning methods to solve real world business problems
  • Confident in communicating and collaborates efficiently with team members, business partners and stakeholders from various domains
  • Able to present analysis result clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Result oriented, open-minded and a proactive problem-solver with great interest in solving challenges in a fast changing environment

Now for the fun stuff, you are interested in:

  • Various machine learning and econometrics algorithms (knowledge of common techniques within NLP, such as text processing, topic modeling, sentiment analysis, etc. preferred)
  • Classical and deep learning methods on unstructured data, familiarity with Keras, TensorFlow and/or PyTorch, NLTK, Gensim, SpaCy and Word2Vec preferred
  • Functional coding (e.g., C/C++, Python or Java), querying databases (e.g.,Oracle, MySQL, Hive), statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS or SAS) and data visualization (e.g., Tableau. R shiny, Plotly)
  • Working knowledge with large-scale computing, distributed system (e.g.,Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark) and cloud based environment (e.g., AWS. Azure)
  • Statistics, econometrics and probability (e.g., causal inference, classical and Bayesian statistics)
  • Writing reproducible code at production level for practical application of data products

The preferred start date of the student support position is as soon as possible for 6-12 months. Please clearly indicate your preferred starting date and duration on your motivation letter. Applications need to include a CV and a motivation letter both merged in one document.
