Internship in Power Electronics

ABB Corporate Research currently has an opening for a student of Electrical Engineering to join its Power Electronics Converters group in Baden-Dättwil as an intern for a period of six months. We offer a friendly, international work environment with possibility to be part of industrial research projects. Tasks:

As an intern in the group “Power Electronic Converters”, you will:

  • Simulate, design and optimize important aspects of power electronic converters.
  • Validate by Finite Element Method (FEM) based modeling
  • Assist scientists in the ongoing R&D activities
  • Document your work
  • Present your results to experts in power electronics

Eligibility:

  • You should be an EU/EFTA citizen.
  • If you are not a citizen of EU/EFTA countries and/or are temporary resident in EU/EFTA countries, you must provide certificate from the university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of the studies to become eligible.
  • It is the duty of the student to upload this certificate as part of the online application.

Requirements:

  • Satisfy the eligibility criteria as mentioned above.
  • You must have intermediate to advanced MATLAB programming skills.
  • You should be enrolled as a master student in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Senior (4th or 5th year) in Bachelor of Engineering with good MATLAB skills are also welcomed to apply.
  • Good knowledge in power electronics is a plus.
  • Experience with circuit simulators and FEM tools is a plus.
  • You are fluent in English
  • You are available for at least 6 months and during fall 2019 (starting June-July).

*Non-EU/EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from the university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of studies, is required for the visa application.
