European Trainee Program for Service

Then our European Graduate Trainee Program for Service is the right fit for you. Our Trainee Program is a unique entry opportunity to begin your career with ABB. It is designed for recent graduates who are looking for a career in Service. During the European Service Trainee Program, you will be exposed to a variety of ABB operations in different countries (cross-functional, cross-divisional)- all of which have a positive impact on the world around us. The program comprises training in the form of hands-on working experience and “off-the-job” formal training days, making the Trainee Program the perfect start of your career. Service is vital to guarantee a strong relation with our customers and allow them to operate safely and efficiently. This is the field where your work will make the difference. Being part of a Trainee Program at ABB also means belonging to an extensive network of peers and participate in exciting social events.

Tasks:

The assignments are of six months each. The first assignment is spent at an ABB office in Switzerland. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to move to an ABB location abroad within Europe and finally, the third assignment will bring you back to Switzerland.

Your assignments will give you an insight into the following areas:

  • Customer project: You will take over responsibility of one or more customer project(s) (coached by an experienced project manager) which includes taking actions to identify new Service business opportunities for ABB.

  • Service delivery: Perform Service tasks like installation and commissioning of equipment and routine maintenance, identify technical problems and make analysis through remote or on-site activity in different Service categories (installation and commissioning, routine maintenance, extensions, replacements etc.).

  • Gain work experience as a field service engineer: Contribute to customer satisfaction by executing Service work according to customer order and expectation. Maintain a good relationship with customers.

  • Process improvement: Troubleshoot simple equipment failure and make recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future, provide recommendations to management to improve operations and customer service.

  • Reporting and documentation: Develop and analyze service reports and protocols, provide technical advice, ensure all necessary data has been registered in a timely manner in the system.

  • Personal Development: Corporate mission and values, international and virtual teamwork, leadership and management skills, presentation, communication and, motivational skills, innovation and creativity.

Requirements:

  • Recent graduates (BSc/MSc level studies or equivalent) with good grades in the field of in electrical/ mechanical/ industrial engineering or machine technology.

  • Completed university studies before the start date 1 October 2019.

  • Completed technical vocational training is a plus (as a mechanic, mechatronics engineer, electrician or printer).

  • International experience and/or experience as a service technician is a plus.

  • Authorization to work in Switzerland is strongly preferred (B permit).

  • Excellent knowledge of German and fluency in English required.

  • Team player with a high level of service and customer orientation, autonomous work style, perseverance, creativity and problem-solving.

  • Dynamic and flexible mindset combined with a determined and analytical-focused personality including practical and target-oriented thinking and acting.

Additional Important information:
Start date of the program is October 1, 2019. The position will be open for applications until May 5, 2019. All applicants will receive a notice informing them about their application status latest by mid-May 2019. Video interviews will be done beginning of May 2019 and you will be informed latest by end of May if you are invited to the assessment center. The Assessment Center will be held on June 13, 2019. The in-person one-day assessment center is required to be selected, so please tentatively hold the date. Final decisions will be made directly after the assessment center.
