The Roche Internship Program in Technology and Computer Sciences/IT (RiGI) offers internships twice per year (Spring and Autumn semesters) from 3 to 12 months in different areas in our truly global Home4IT community (eg Software Engineering/Coding, Cyber Security, Data Management, Artificial Intelligence, Software Solutions, Computer Architecture, Data Modeling/Warehousing and Database Administration and more). As experts, vendor manager (VM) orchestrate in a more and more agile way for IT the maximisation of returns and value we get from selected vendors. The selected vendors are the most pivotal to enable our IT-wide strategy. Vendor managers make those vendors delivery innovative, transformative, fast, simple, seamless.

Your main accountabilities will:

  • Support senior VM colleagues in managing selected vendor contracts, vendor finances, vendor performance, vendor outsourcing transitions and vendor disposition focusing on maximum value for IT
  • Be involved in consulting missions focused on supporting key Roche IT transformations with vendor management framework tasks inclusive of working with external vendors and internal stakeholders (IT leads, architects, finance, procurement, legal, SQPR)
  • Support senior VM colleagues in doing co-ideation, continuous improvement and agile initiatives with our vendors/partners
  • Support senior VM colleagues in consulting missions to lead value management from vendors/partners in business case design, evaluation and implementation maximising likelihood of success for our IT strategy
  • Support senior VM colleagues in shaping and driving effective agile vendor value strategies

What do you need in your toolbox?

  • Enrolled in a university / bachelor or master degree program in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Electrical Engineering with an interest towards more management consulting work
  • Enthusiastic about working with pivotal global vendors for the IT strategy (cloud, IT services, IT consulting)
  • Willing to deep-dive into the field of vendor management in agile cross-disciplinary teams towards value
  • “Good enough instead of perfection”, passionate to simplify and articulate the big picture
  • Eager to deepen your understanding of IT, sourcing and procurement and vendor strategies
  • Analytical thinking, hands-on problem solving, and stakeholder management is required
  • Eager to contribute in developing and implementing VM best practises in agile environments
  • Takes ‘progressive risk’—not thrill-seeking, but risk that leads to opportunity for IT
  • English language fluency and good writing/communication skills
