About the role
Are you striving to engage with your scientific background to advance natural hazard resilience with the help of insurance solutions? Do you strive on collaboration across different units and functions? Do you love to improve and define new solutions in an agile work mode?
We offer a position focusing on the junction point of science and its application in re/insurance. You will get the possibility to learn about and contribute to a topic at the heart of Swiss Re: evaluating and handling of natural perils insurance risks. It is a cornerstone of our success and our aim to foster societal resilience from climate risk.
You will build hands on experience in advancing Swiss Re's Natural Catastrophe (Nat Cat) models. You will engage in and ultimately lead projects to improve (Nat Cat) risk assessment, collaborate with a wide spectrum of internal and external teams and develop novel insurance solutions to increase resilience against catastrophes.

About the team
We are the EMEA catastrophe perils (Cat Perils) team, which is part of the global catastrophe perils department. The Cat Perils department is responsible for Swiss Re’s global natural catastrophe risk assessment and related client services. It owns Swiss Re's global Nat Cat risk view. The department advances state of the art probabilistic and proprietary modelling technology for earthquakes, windstorm and flood hazards, with a clear business mandate to grow Swiss Re’s competitive edge in close collaboration with Swiss Re’s underwriters and clients. We are organised in three regional teams (North America, EMEA and Asia) and a cross-functional R&D team.
Your working location will be right in the center of Zurich. The EMEA team consists of professionals from a wide range of specialisations in natural science.
