YOUR responsibilities & YOUR impact:

In this position, you are part of the BioTD Drug Product Development (DPD) Process Engineering team and responsible for developing and applying computational models to evaluate process parameters that are critical to parenteral Fill&Finish operations. The work will focus on establishing a robust computational model for one of the key unit operations of Fill&Finish, which can be trained in a small-scale experimental setup to reflect product-specific critical product parameters (CPP) and quality attributes (CQA) at production scale. Together with the lab operations team you will test your simulations, train models according to gained experimental insights, and provide ready-to-use solutions. You will have access to state-of-the-art Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) for in-/on- or at-line measurements. The interaction with your US-based colleagues will allow to further optimize established models and foster exchange of ideas. This challenging and unique opportunity will allow you to gain process expertise related to a broad range of products from early to late development.

Responsibilities:

  • Define DoE for identification of CPPs that are critical for Fill&Finish
  • Design (together with Analytical Development) experiments in low volume platform to gather model specific datasets
  • Support prioritization of PAT tool selection for implementation to lab scale studies
  • Challenging and training of multiple model generations towards reproducibility and robustness
  • Deliver ready-to-use computational model to enter validation procedures

Qualifications

For this position we are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on, flexible, and team-oriented person with excellent communication skills as well as the following hard skills:

  • Masters Degree OR a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy or a related field
  • Demonstrated competency in hands on process engineering and computational modeling (CFD)
  • Knowledge of biopharmaceutical process design, technology transfer and drug product Fill&Finish operations is preferred
  • Proven track record of creativity and problem solving. Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams is a must.
  • Excellent oral and written language skills in German and/or English.
