This is a role in a commercial data science team. Our group leverages advance analytics and big data methodologies to improve global commercial decision-making.
Who you are:
Roche is seeking multiple interns either pursuing, or recent graduates from a Bachelor or Master degree with expertise in advanced analytics and machine learning to help us explore its potential applications in healthcare. Our interns will join various analytics teams across the organization and work on an innovative project applying advanced analytics and machine learning approaches to the company’s real world data (e.g. electronic medical records, insurance claims, medical transcripts), genomic, diagnostic, imaging and clinical trial data assets spanning multiple disease areas.
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Creative problem solvers, quick learners and comfortable experimenting with new approaches
- Demonstrate high productivity and enjoys dealing with ambiguity and applying novel methodologies
- Possess entrepreneurship, passion and curiosity for understanding and interrogating complex data
- Available from May/ June 2021 for 6 month
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the host team and other stakeholders to evaluate potential machine learning techniques and applications
- Design, build and interpret machine learning algorithms to address selected research questions (including preparing the input data)
- Proactively share learnings and knowledge to support the development of the wider Roche Advanced Analytics community
- Help shape the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence within Roche
Experience and Competencies Preferred:
- Ongoing Bachelor or Master degree in the field of computer science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics and engineering, or recently graduated
- Experience in statistical modelling and machine learning techniques. Experience with time-series data is a plus.
- Programming experience in Python. Good software development practices (Git, Pytest) are a plus.
- Experience in the AWS Cloud. Certifications are a plus.
- Experience in applying data science methods to business problems
- Experience in applying advanced analytical and statistical methods in the commercial world, e.g. forecasting , marketing modeling mix or recommender systems.
- Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fields
- Fluency in English (C1) is required. German is a plus.
