About the Programme

We are looking for graduates with strong interpersonal skills, who are eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and expertise. You have a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree with up to 3 years professional experience - we invite you to apply to our graduates@swissre programme 2022.

The programme offers you the chance to join the dynamic, fast-moving world of a leading risk knowledge organisation. Over an 18-month period, you’ll receive on- and off-the-job training, including a job rotation that gives you the opportunity to work across different business units.

About the Role

In this role you will collaborate with teams from different areas of Swiss Re to shape the data-driven transformation and solve complex data problems using cutting-edge technology. You will be working in the Stargate Centre of Excellence (CoE) within Group Data Services (GDS). This team is involved in a wide range of topics such as Natural Catastrophes, Finance or R&D where it enables the development of valuable data assets, analytics and workflows that allow for superior data-driven decision-making. The role involves strong collaboration with business functions, colleagues, peers within Group Data Services as well as our technical partner Palantir and other third-party vendors.

Particularly, you will:

  • Find opportunities to build reusable data assets, improve existing processes and create innovative solutions in close collaboration with data engineers
  • Work to solve some of the most complex data problems in the re/insurance space using your data analytics and/or algorithmic skills
  • Ensure a smooth operational onboarding of new teams and project to Stargate including staffing, governance approvals, technical setup, training and support
  • Pro-actively contribute to a high-quality Stargate project pipeline, shape new projects, coordinate execution with relevant stakeholders and oversee execution
  • Take ownership of selected projects and drive them forward
  • Shape, plan and execute communications and reporting activities for diverse audiences
  • Engage with teams across the company, build and deliver demos and foster the adoption of Stargate

About the Team

The Stargate CoE consists of a team of enthusiastic data strategists, data engineers, architects and platform specialists dedicated to realising the full potential of Swiss Re’s data. We engage with all parts of the company, enabling them to formulate and execute data ambitions, to develop group-wide data assets and to provide data-driven products and services to our clients.

About You

  • Successfully completed a Masters degree of business, economics, computer science or other technical background
  • Entrepreneurial and analytical mindset with genuine passion to make organizations more data-driven
  • Ability to structure, organise and drive multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
  • Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative
  • Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment, and to be mobile in terms of workplace or location if required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build positive relationships within our team and across the organisation
  • Ability to translate high-level business ambitions into concrete action plans
  • Capacity to communicate complex technical concepts and results in a clear, engaging, and precise manner to diverse audiences
  • Very good command of Microsoft Office
  • Programming skills in Python and / or SQL is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written English, with very good communication skills
  • Demonstration of integrity, ownership, creativity, curiosity, dedication, perseverance, strategic thinking, humor, unpretentiousness
