Within the area of High Voltage Products, the Technology Center Switzerland is responsible - as part of a global development organization - for the development and optimization of products like Gas Insulated Switchgear, Generator Circuit Breakers, Surge Arresters, High Voltage Interrupter Chambers, Insulation Components as well as Control and Monitoring solutions. The materials team supports colleagues from throughout the business unit with advice on material selection, qualification, processing and failure analysis, to ensure the highest quality and best customer experience of our products. We are looking for a Materials Expert (m/f/d) with a broad background in materials characterization methods and manufacturing technologies. Your responsibilities
- Materials selection, specification and qualification as part of product development projects in interdisciplinary teams between materials science, mechanicaland electrical engineering
- Support our global quality and product care teams in root-cause analyses related to material failures
- Close collaboration with scientists and engineers from Hitachi ABB Power Grids research, development centers and external laboratories around the world
Your background
- Master’s degree or equivalent degree (university of applied science/university) in materials science or closely related subject
- 2-3 years experience in adjacent fields, for example in manufacturing technologies, the electrical industry or in materials development, is considered as a plus
- Practical laboratory experience in materials characterization or materials processing
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Fluency in English, basic German skills or willingness to learn German
