We are offering an opportunity for an internship in our BGE (Blood Gas & Electrolytes) Sensor Development Team to a team-oriented, inquisitive and motivated person.

Our Team «BGE Sensors & Electrodes» develops, characterizes and optimizes different electrochemical sensors for medical devices in the area of IVD diagnostics (measurement of blood gases, electrolytes and metabolites) to measure various parameters in whole blood.

To be able to deliver the desired products, we select electrochemical, optical or enzymatic measuring principles and develop the corresponding sensor.

To support our development team, we offer an internship for ca. 6-8 month (can be adjusted according to your needs).

How can you support our team?

  • You collaborate with our technical experts in the development and improvement of sensors for blood gas analytics.
  • You help investigate aspects of the sensor design by planning and conducting different physical and chemical experiments and tests. You support the functional testing of the sensors and analyze the data.
  • Your support the development team with your scientific background and you will learn to understand, characterize and optimize complex, electrochemical sensors and processes.
  • You will work on your own work packages, plan and conduct experiments and write the corresponding analysis and documentation. For this, you have access to different analytical methods and tools to analyze sensors (or materials) and use data analysis tools to compile a report on your technical work.

We can offer you a very interesting introduction and insight into the complex and challenging sensor development work, sensors that are used in medical device around the world.

Who are you?

You ideally have the following qualifications and experiences:

  • You have experience in laboratory environment.
  • You are currently enrolled as a student or recently completed your education in a technical area (for example Bachelor/Master in a Technical University (FH/ETH/…)), ideally in Chemistry / Physics / electrical Engineering / Material Sciences)
  • You are looking to gather first experiences in an industrial environment and want to get the opportunity to get insight into the development environment in a leading medical device company.
  • You are interested in learning to develop electrochemical sensors, producing and testing these sensors and in the efficient analysis of the gathered data.
  • You have a structured and self-reliant way in executing experiments and documenting their results.
  • You are an open, flexible and team-oriented person

You speak and write well in english (and german).

If you are currently studying please attach the certificate of enrollment. Recent graduates are also eligible to start an internship with us within 12 months of their graduation date.

Due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens have to provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents.
