The Analytical Development Biochemistry group, located in Basel, is an integral component of how we innovate healthcare through the invention of differentiated medicines for treating diseases of current unmet medical need. This internship integrates seamlessly into European-based University degree programs. We’d like to therefore offer extraordinarily driven students an opportunity to gain valuable work experience with us.

In this position you will

  • Develop a mass spectroscopy (MS) based method for the characterization and quantification of modifications in enzymatic Peptide Mapping of biomolecules
  • Optimize the sample preparation (e.g. automation) and the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separation conditions
  • Qualification of the new developed method
  • Document the performed experiments and developed methods comprehensively
  • Gain insight into the whole analytical department, as well as a thorough understanding of the whole company, its processes and connections
  • Network across divisions and take part in tours, presentations, events and trainings

Moreover you are

  • A hardworking and dedicated Bachelor or Master student who is currently enrolled (preferably in Biology / Bio-(analytical) Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Sciences or related) or in a gap year in between degrees
  • Passionate about new technologies
  • Highly self-motivated and science driven
  • Keen to increase your knowledge on sample preparation of biomolecules and small molecules as well as in mass spectrometry in general
  • Highly collaborative and you easily engage with people

Your skillset includes

  • Hands-on experience in HPLC separation techniques for biomolecules (e.g. RPC, etc.)
  • First experience in mass spectrometry data systems (preferably Thermo/Agilent)
  • Extended experience in programming of robotic systems (preferably Tecan)
  • Basic knowledge about Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a plus
  • Proficiency in oral and written German
