For four years SWITCH has been building an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud called SWITCHengines. It is mainly used for research and education at various higher education institutions in Switzerland. Our team is responsible for building, designing, operating and running the cloud infrastructure. We are looking for an intern for a 6 to 12 months internship.

Tasks

SWITCH offers you a chance to work with leading technologies and experience how to build, run and operate a cloud:
Together with our presales technicians you identify customer needs and document the requirements.
You support our presales technicians for customer visits, presentations, events and generally support rollout activities at universities.
Realize POCs (proof of concept) with our customers to implement the identified requirements.
Join an agile team that uses Kanban and DevOps techniques to do continuous delivery to the cloud infrastructure.
Work with OpenStack from an end-user perspective and support customers from Swiss academia to get started with OpenStack and our cloud services.

Education

Ideally you are studying business informatics.

Experience

Ideally some basic accounting knowhow to understand customers budget for cloud infrastructure.
Ideally you already know what a public, private and hybrid cloud is and which use-cases fit best to which.
Interested in taking a deep dive into one or more cloud related technical topics.

Skills

Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to understand customer needs and requirement (business-view).
Ability to work independent on tasks and as a teamplayer in projects.
Take responsibility for the work you are doing.
An interest in working for IT in higher education.
Languages English and German.
