Your Role

Zurich Specialties is leader in the Swiss market and is one of the four Line of Businesses within our Zurich Commercial Insurance organization. In this role, you are going to lead a team of underwriters in different regions who interact with clients, brokers, agents on a regular basis and consult them for the respective risk transfer. You own the profit and loss responsibility for the entire product suite and are therefore responsible for the portfolio management, plan delivery, product innovation, governance, etc. to ensure the products within Specialties deliver a profitable and sustainable bottom line result.

As a Head Specialties your main responsibilities will involve:

• Leading, managing and developing a team of 50 underwriting professionals
• Profit and Loss responsibility for Speciality Lines of Business: this includes Financial Lines, Credit & Surety, PI, Crime, D&O, K&R, Cyber etc.
• Responsible and drive financial plan from a top- and bottom-line perspective
• Responsible for product management of Specialties and drive innovation
• Leadership and budget responsibility of Speciality department
• Lead and push market-facing activities and close collaboration with brokers, agents and other distribution channels
• Ensure adherence to governance framework and technical expertise
• Regular customer engagement and broker interactions

Your Skills and Experience

As a Head Specialties your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

• Master’s degree in management/business administration or an equivalent diploma
• Broad Knowledge of Specialties insurance solutions such as Financial Lines, Credit & Surety, PI, Crime, D&O, K&R, Cyber etc. and products market in Switzerland
• Leadership skills and underwriting management experience minimum 10 years
• Ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve ambitious goals and to actively contribute to a constructive team working environment
• Expert technical knowledge of the insurance industry
• Strategic and analytical skills
• Fluent in German (working language) and English (verbal and written)
• Exceptional communication skills and team working spirit
• Strong relationship management skills (internally and externally)
• Strong customer and market orientation

Additional Information

Preferred work location is Zürich. The travel requirement is up to 20%.
