Job description

Supporting international economic operators to move their import, export and trade compliance operations to the next level.

As a customs and trade compliance specialist, you will support companies running international operations with their challenges in the area of customs operations, export controls, trade compliance and import/export related regulatory requirements.

As a member of the Global Trade Advisory team, you will closely collaborate with your colleagues from different service lines such as indirect Tax, Risk Advisory, Financial Advisory, SAP consulting and Sustainability on larger projects, e.g.

  • a company decides to change or optimize the financial and/or physical supply chain
  • certain customs or trade compliance processes shall be automated or an internal controls framework shall be established which also covers trade compliance
  • other advisory assignments related to customs and trade compliance related topics, such as cusoms valuation, (preferential) country of origin determination, HTS and ECCN classification, export controlls, sanctions & embargoes, trade related sustainability regulations such as plastic taxes, CBAM etc. and also excise taxes in general
  • Specific experience in the banking or financial services industry and sanctions schemes would be an add on

How you can make an impact

  • As a member of our Global Trade Advisory team, you will not only support our clients, but also work on developing new offerings, participate and/or present on client events, webinars or external conferences
  • You will also be in charge of knowledge management and training junior colleagues on specific customs and trade compliance related topics

Who we are looking for

  • You have a proactive and analytical mind-set and are able to work independently with innovative approaches, whilst maintaining contact with colleagues at all levels and being a good team player.
  • Apprenticeship as a foreign trade expert; customs expert (HF or Eidgenössicher Fachausweis), Lawyer or business administration with focus on customs, trade compliance and / or export controls.
  • At least 3 years experience in customs, trade compliance and / or export controls. Experience in the automation of customs and trade compliance processes would be nice to have.
  • Good understanding of supply chain processes and their interface to other areas such as taxes (VAT, transfer prices etc.), legal/regulatory, accounting, logistics
  • Fluent in German or French and very good command of English, other languages are a plus
