Prior knowledge about power systems is welcome, but it is not a requirement. We are looking for a research scientist with expertise in reliability engineering and physics of failure to strengthen our team in the area of reliability research for power grid components and systems.

Your responsibilities

  • Use your scientific experience to study the physics of failure in our products on materials, component, and system level
  • Identify, analyze, and model various degradation and failure mechanisms (fatigue, creep, corrosion, fracture, insulation breakdown, etc.) in power electronics systems and high-voltage apparatus
  • Develop and apply complex experimental setups for accelerated stress testing and innovative defect screening methodologies
  • Drive multidisciplinary research projects in close collaboration with business units, other research centers, as well as external universities and industrial partners
  • Build a network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise, pro-vide consultancy to business units
  • Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports

Your background

  • PhD or comparable qualification/experience in experimental physics, materials science, mechanical engineering or a related field, which you combine with broad knowledge of the physics of electrical, thermal, and mechanical behavior of material systems
  • Extensive hands-on lab experience using complex test setups, as well as broad knowledge of statistical methods for data analysis
  • Experience in reliability testing and methods for materials failure analysis (sample preparation, microscopy and spectroscopy techniques) of electronics, power semiconductors, and/or high-voltage components is considered as a strong plus
  • Proven track record of publications at top conferences and in scientific journals
  • Excellent communication skills and team player attitude
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
