Your role

Are you keen to experience machine learning and data science in practice? Would you like to apply your knowledge of data science at UBS and collect valuable experience along the way?

As Data Scientist summer intern, you will:

• work within a very eventful and dynamic area which is Technology and Operations Center division investment banking
• be self-motivated and take initiative
• work independently to design, implement and validate models
• present insightful findings from data and model outputs

Our 8 to 10-week summer internships starting in July is an ideal way to gain the work experience you’ll need to launch your career. It’s also an opportunity to work with and learn from some of our sharp people in finance.
From the start of the program, you’ll be right at the heart of the business, taking part in the day-to-day operations. You’ll not only learn about the business of finance from top to bottom, you’ll also experience our unique workplace culture.

Your team

You’ll be working in the Technology and Operations Center division investment banking team in Opfikon. We provide applications production support and work closely with Investment banking business such like Foreign exchange traders. If you would like to apply your data scientist knowledge to a real use case, be supported by dynamic people, and also experience our unique workplace culture, you are at the right place.

Your expertise

You need have completed at least four semesters of your bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science.

In particular, you have:

• solid understanding of statistics and modern analytics methods
• good programming skills, ideally in Python or R
• good knowledge of databases, Splunk, ElasticSearch, MongoDB etc

• knowledge of the concepts around building analytical models
  and you are:

• quick learner
• comfortable working independently, as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• fluent in English

Perhaps you’ve organized a fundraising event or taken part in team sports? Or persevered and passed an exam in a subject you found challenging? Think about how things you’ve achieved match the skills we’re after.
