The opportunity
Join our Semiconductor Packaging and Reliability Engineering team at the Central European Hitachi Energy Research Center in Baden-Dättwil. You’ll contribute to a project focused on the reliability of HVDC stations, a key technology for long-distance, sustainable energy transmission. In this internship, you’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, gaining hands-on experience in statistical modeling and reliability engineering. We offer a supportive environment where you can grow, learn, and make a real impact. The duration of the internship is 6 months.
How you’ll make an impact
- Assist in researching and developing the reliability profile of HVDC station on the component level
- Assist in developing and applying novel statistical and mathematical models for reliability analysis
- Developing and implementing stochastic reliability models for components in HVDC stations
- Documenting and communicating the solutions developed to ensure knowledge transfer within the research team, academic cooperation partners and relevant business areas
Your background
- Currently pursuing a M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering, power engineering, physics, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering or a related discipline (official enrolment is essential)
- Understanding fundamental concepts in statistics and probability
- Familiarity with reliability engineering and related concepts
- Programing skills for data analysis and machine learning are a plus
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Good communication and cooperation skills, creativity and the ability to work independently
