The position
The API Engineering department is responsible for engineering projects from the development phase to the chemical and biotechnological production of APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) at the Basel site. Our tasks include the realization of new construction projects as well as the adaptation of existing plants to novel production processes and to current official and safety regulations. Our dynamic team will give you an insight into the work of a pharmaceutical manufacturer with state-of-the-art equipment and systems.
You will support the engineering department by working on actual projects towards the introduction of digital engineering in the manufacture of chemical APIs. Within this activity you will be involved in the design of a virtual platform to create a digital twin of existing equipment and assist in the design of new processes.
In this position you will:
- Use advanced technologies to create a digital factory and efficiently harness engineering equipment information and operational data
- Define a strategy to generate, curate, share, extract and work with computable data and information
- Define interfaces between physical and digital assets
- Create a virtual modular platform to visually explore module-based production plants and convey new architectures
Who you are
You are open to new ideas and question conventional thought patterns. You appreciate working in a performance-oriented environment based on mutual respect, discussion and cooperation.
As an intern in API Engineering you are enrolled in a Bachelor/ Master program or in a gap year between Bachelor and Master degree, preferably with a focus on computer science or communication systems. Ideally you already have some experience in data processing and head-mounted display.
Moreover, you have:
- Sound technical understanding of construction software and virtual reality (e.g. Unity)
- Knowledge of Python, C# and/or Java programming language
- Creative mind and interest in strategic problem solving
- Strong communication and collaborations skills
- Good command of English, German is a plus
