At Hitachi ABB Power Grids Research, we have an open position in the area of code optimization for real-time embedded systems. You will join ongoing research projects together with scientists from Hitachi ABB Power Grids Research. The internship will cover topics in the areas of code optimization, compilers, algorithms, and embedded systems. Your responsibilities

  • Evaluate multiple profiling methods for a real-time embedded software system used in the power grids domain
  • Identify opportunities to improve execution time in existing software products
  • Experiment with code optimizations methods (e.g. parallelization, vectorization) that leverage the underlying CPU microarchitecture
  • Implement optimizations for numerical algorithms in the existing codebase
  • Run different experiments to assess the performance of the optimized code

Your background

  • Enrolled in a MSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Interest in software optimization, compilers, algorithms, CPU microarchitecture and embedded software
  • Familiarity with the C/C++ programming languages
  • Self-driven and curious, good organizational skills, work well in a team
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize and make use of the time as efficiently as possible
  • Proficiency in English
