In the early phases of drug discovery, particularly in Lead Identification and Lead Optimization stages, modern computational methods can be of invaluable support to prioritize synthesis and testing of the most promising small molecule candidates to be then moved further along the value chain.

A wide variety of computational models and techniques can be applied to virtual molecules prior to their synthesis to inform their profile across all the most critical domains, such as physico-chemical / DMPK properties, and toxicity endpoints. Compounds predicted to be the closest to the Target Compound Profile (TCP) will be prioritized for synthesis and in vitro profiling.

Your tasks:

The aim of this internship is to assess the impact of the systematic application of the most advanced computational models across domains to prioritize the synthesis of the most promising compounds (Small Moleculess) for the project(s) under investigation. Older, clinical-stage in house projects may be used to compare the compound(s) advanced at the time with those newly designed and selected with the new methodologies.

Your Profile:

  • You are passionate about drug development
  • Your background is Pharmacy, Medicinal Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, or Data Sciences.
  • You have a keen interest in data analysis, artificial intelligence, molecular modeling, PBPK modeling, drug design, drug-like properties, pharmacokinetics and toxicology.
  • You are proficient in English and not afraid of interacting with colleagues in our Roche Innovation Center in Basel/Switzerland
  • You are entrepreneurial and have a positive mindset and a can-do mentality!
