Secondary Design Engineer 80 – 100% (f/m/d)
The opportunity
We are looking for a Secondary Design Engineer to join our GIS engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates who have completed an apprenticeship (EFZ) in electrical engineering, automation, or a related discipline and have gained 2-3 years of experience in engineering design or drafting.
As part of our engineering team, you will create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation for high-voltage GIS substation projects. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, project managers, and global engineering teams while developing your expertise in engineering standards, tools, and technologies. The role offers a clear development path towards greater technical ownership and responsibility within an international engineering environment.
How you’ll make an impact
- Prepare schematics and related engineering documents for GIS secondary engineering scopes, including LCC and digital substation applications
- Support engineering execution across project phases, from base design and detail design through manufacturing documentation and as-built updates
- Create preliminary BOMs, reports, and manufacturing documents using approved engineering tools and standard processes
- Perform structured self-checks and contribute to technically correct, high-quality, and standard-compliant deliverables
- Support technical clarifications with internal stakeholders, project teams, and factories, and help document and close open points
- Contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and engineering best practices, including participation in relevant expert communities
- Apply internal guidelines, engineering standards, and quality requirements while supporting safe and efficient project execution
Your background
- Completed apprenticeship (EFZ) as an Electrical Draftsman, Automation Technician, Electrical Technician, or a comparable electrical engineering qualification
- 2-3 years of professional experience in electrical engineering design, drafting, automation, or engineering project execution
- Further education such as Technician School (HF), Technical College, or equivalent continuing education is preferred
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering may be considered, but this role is intentionally targeted at technicians and engineering professionals with hands-on design experience rather than advanced academic profiles
- Good understanding of electrical engineering principles and interest in high-voltage substations and GIS technology
- Ability to read, understand, and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation
- Experience with CAD or engineering software is required
- Structured and reliable working style with attention to detail
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Good English skills; German is an advantage
