The Neuroscience Discovery Group at Roche oversees the research and development of novel therapies for a range of serious disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.
We are offering a unique chance to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team that brings together neurodegeneration and electrophysiology experts. Therefore, we are looking for a highly motivated master student who will investigate the effect of Alzheimer’s linked pathology on hippocampal and cortical electrophysiology. Pathological changes occurring early in Alzheimer’s disease and might serve as biomarkers for disease progression. Their identification can be decisive in the development of future therapies. The internship will support data analysis activities such as analysis workflow development and implementation of novel analysis functions to apply to in vivo electrophysiology data. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in cutting-edge electrophysiology and biomarker data analysis technologies in an interdisciplinary industry environment.
As the successful candidate, you will be part of the Discovery section of the Neuroscience department.
In this position you will
- Perform exploratory data analysis on existing data sets from Tau, amyloid and Apoe mouse models.
- Invent and develop new data analysis methods and incorporate them into an existing data analysis workflow
- Present your progress at internal meetings
- Perform literature searches and align your work with published data
Who you are

Moreover, you are
- An ambitious student who is currently enrolled in the advanced phase of your Master degree or has recently finished studies preferably in Neurobiology, Physics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Neurophysiology or equivalent field
- Interested in neurophysiology or data analysis
- Experienced in signal analysis and analysis of neurophysiological data
- Preferably experienced in software development (Python or Matlab)
- Versed in multivariate data modeling
- Feeling comfortable to learn and apply artificial intelligence or machine learning based data exploration and analysis
- Proficient in English (both spoken and written)
