IAESTE Switzerland is an international exchange organisation which, each year, arranges around 120 paid work placements worldwide in approximately 70 countries for students at Swiss universities and higher education institutions, primarily from technical and scientific faculties. IAESTE Switzerland also arranges work placements for international students at around 80 Swiss companies.
IAESTE Switzerland is a member of the IAESTE International umbrella organisation; the paid internship placements abroad are organised through its IAESTE partner committees.
IAESTE was founded in 1948 by ten European universities. ETH Zurich was one of the founding members. Today, IAESTE has over 70 members from every continent. More than 300,000 students have already benefited from the unique opportunity to undertake an internship abroad with IAESTE.
IAESTE’s objectives are
• To enable students of science and engineering disciplines to undertake practical work placements abroad, thereby promoting their professional and personal development
• To place qualified and motivated international interns with Swiss employers
• To further develop the international network, intercultural competence and knowledge transfer between interns and their employers
• IAESTE operates independently of origin, faith and gender
