The Position
Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) is a global function within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). As a team member in the Predictive Modelling (PM) chapter of PS, you will work in close collaboration with scientists in pRED, using state-of-the-art modelling and simulation tools.
Exposure/Response (or Safety) analyses are crucial for determining the relationship between the drug’s concentration in the body and its therapeutic and/or adverse effects. These analyses support the choice of a safe and effective dosing for patients. A first version of an internal R package that is designed to streamline and simplify such analyses was created. We are seeking a motivated intern to collaborate on this project.
The Opportunity
- Support the continued development of an internal R package dedicated to exposure response analyses
- Automate the validation and testing of this internal R package in Roche computing environment
- Attend department meetings to present your work as well as gaining an understanding on how modelling and simulations influence drug development
Who You are
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree, recently completed it, or enrolled as a PhD student in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Pharmacometrics, Statistics, or related fields).
- Seeking an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Modelling and Simulation within a drug development environment.
- Basic knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
- Basic understanding of statistics, including both theory and application.
- Skilled in coding with R, including data handling, writing functions, and preferably packages building.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- A team-oriented person with an investigative attitude, capable of working independently and adopting new scientific methodologies.
- Experienced in designing, performing, and interpreting experiments.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English.
Should this have piqued your interest, apply with your current CV and a Motivation Letter (1 page), where you indicate your preferred start date of the internship.
Due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents, and must be continuously enrolled in their university program for the whole duration of this internship. The letter should also specify the required length of the internship.
Please note that this internship is not suitable for a master’s thesis.
