Internship in Model Predictive Control of Static Frequency Converters 80 - 100% (f/m/d)
Are you looking for an internship in the digitalization of power systems? We are looking for a six-month intern to contribute to the development of a next-generation control strategy for modular multilevel converter (MMC)-based grid-interties applications.
You will join ongoing research projects at our Hitachi Energy Research Center in Baden-Dättwil, and a dynamic, motivated and creative team with a broad range of competences. If you have a strong technical background, motivation to develop innovative solutions, and you are goal-oriented, this is your opportunity to contribute to a stronger and more sustainable energy future!
Your tasks:
- Perform state-of-the-art review in the field of model predictive control for networked power converters.
- Support the technology development and research activities with focus on emerging Low-Frequency AC power transmission applications.
- Develop simulation prototypes to assess the steady-state/transient performance, related computational effort, and adaptation against model uncertainty of the proposed strategies. Benchmark the prototypes with state-of-the-art solutions.
- Propose creative and efficient solutions to de-risk the implementation of the approach in future product releases.
- Disseminate knowledge including presentation of results, writing technical reports, and contribution to scientific paper.
Your background:
- Currently pursuing a MSc degree in Control and Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field - official enrollment is essential.
- Background in at least one of the following: modelling and control for power converters, modern control theories, and/or applied optimization.
- Domain knowledge on power converters and power electronics is a plus.
- Experience in MATLAB / Simulink programming is required.
- Experience that demonstrates your team-oriented working style.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
