We are looking for a passionate and proficient industrial senior researcher with expertise in system engineering at our research center in Baden/Switzerland. In an inter-disciplinary environment, you will drive cutting-edge innovation for different complex systems in power grid applications. How you’ll make an impact
- You innovate: Apply your systems engineering expertise to systematically analyze, understand, and decompose current and future complex systems in power grid applications. Conduct industrial research to improve their techno-economic performance over the entire lifecycle
- You investigate: Develop a holistic understanding of diverse and interdependent aspects (e.g. technical, economical, ecological, regulatory) of complex systems and the eco-systems in which they operate. Develop a clear understanding of the scope of the problem and the boundaries of the system
- You take initiative: Collaborate with a global and interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers in Hitachi Energy Research and Business Units to break down complex problems, identify relevant stakeholders and determine the best solution approach for each subproblem
- You connect: Build relationships within the company and actively share your knowledge and expertise. Interact with local and global external partners including universities, start-ups, and vendors to integrate diverse perspectives and stakeholder inputs
- You communicate: Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports
Your background
- PhD in Systems Engineering or related technical field
- Proven track record working as systems engineer for complex systems, including requirements engineering, interdisciplinary collaboration, and managing complex technical projects with diverse stakeholders
- Strong skills in developing and applying methods to represent problems at a system level to drive structured and informed decisions. Experience with model-based system engineering languages as well as engagement in a professional association in the systems engineering field (e.g. INCOSE) are a plus
- Know-how of relevant power grid applications such as high voltage DC (HVDC) transmission, electric vehicle charging, or battery energy storage is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in English, team player attitude, initiative and creativity
