The ‘Corporate Management and Value Creation’ Research Group is the Swiss federal centre of excellence in the field of microeconomic data for agriculture and collects accountancy data for this purpose. The Research Group conducts the annual income monitoring survey of the Swiss agricultural sector on behalf of the Swiss Confederation. Its research encompasses business and microeconomic analyses of agricultural production and topics at the interface of economics and ecology.
As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will develop decision-making bases for farms and policy-makers in the field of economics in fruit and vegetable production. Here, the focus is on the economic efficiency of new and established management strategies and technologies, as well as their effects on the environment. You will develop and maintain tools for business-economics calculations for the attention of agronomic research and practice.

Your tasks

  • Managing and implementing research projects to promote the economic efficiency and competititiveness of Swiss Fruit and Vegetable Production
  • Managing accompanying agroeconomic research for the development of practical and sustainable production systems and methods in consultation with sectoral representatives and the Administration
  • Acquisition and management of third-party-funded projects
  • Publication of current research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Knowledge transfer and exchange (practice-oriented publications and presentations, expert activities)

Your profile

  • Highly motiviated scientist with expertise in the field of fruit and vegetable production economics or a related discipline
  • Doctorate in Economics, Maagerial Economics, Agricultural Management or a related discipline
  • Skilled at collecting, evaluating and interpreting scientific datasets (statistics, econometrics)
  • Achievement-oriented, outgoing personality with excellent teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and a very good command of written and spoken English
