The Position
The opportunity
The Bioanalytics and Biomarkers Chapter (BioAM) is offering a unique 12-month student internship in two strategic areas including hands-on method development in laboratory and operational support in externalization of assays. This role is split between two key areas: Cellular and Functional Biomarkers (CFB) and Biomarker Externalization and Validation (BEV).
As an intern, you will gain comprehensive exposure from developing complex analytical biomarker assays in the lab to supporting the process landscape for outsourcing and externalizing of biomarker assays.
- Laboratory Research & Development: Develop and optimize biomarker assays using human biological samples across various platforms, including Flow Cytometry and Immunoassays.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve bottlenecks in assay performance to enhance analytical sensitivity, specificity, and throughput.
- Data Analysis: Perform rigorous analysis of experimental data and document all findings in electronic lab notebooks (eNA) to ensure high-quality, reproducible results that support project-level decision-making.
- Strategic Operations: Support the development of digital tools for assay lifecycle management, including requirement gathering and the creation of user stories.
- Process Management: Assist in the implementation and data curation of project management solutions to enhance team productivity and streamline externalization workflows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work at the interface of different scientific and operational disciplines to help translate experimental results into actionable biomarker implementation plan.
Who you are
- Academic Background: Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Life Sciences (e.g., Bioanalytics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology) or a related field.
- Laboratory Skills: Practical, hands-on experience in a lab environment; experience with flow cytometry or immunoassays is a plus.
- Digital Mindset: A strong interest in digital process automation, data curation, and project management tools.
- Soft Skills: You are a proactive learner with a growth mindset, comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with full proficiency in English (written and spoken).
