The Position

RDI instrument operations are responsible for manufacturing handheld devices, benchtops, large instruments, lab automation, and consumables. Within the organization, you will work in the Digital Manufacturing Squad, which focuses on all technical aspects, from logistics topics through manufacturing products to the testing process. This includes planning the test setup, the realization of the setup, monitoring the test, and recording the test data. An important and significant part of your work will be integrating innovative production technologies into our manufacturing processes and operational support with their programming and operation. You will also support production staff, laboratory staff, and engineers with experiments and technical questions. You will also be expected to demonstrate an ability to learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, and processes to leverage in your solutions.

Job description:

  • Work with Project engineers and Operations teams on product/process quality/efficiency improvements, cost savings, and technology advancement.
  • Work with production and engineers and seek new technologies
  • Feasibility studies in the field of industrial image processing, automation, and robotics
  • Programming and installation of robot and image processing systems
  • Openly share insights and perspectives with colleagues
  • Focus on outcomes that provide the most business value
  • Collaborate within cross-functional teams to develop solutions and deliver impactful technologies

To be successful in this role, you have the following education, knowledge, and skills:

You are currently enrolled in a Masters degree program or completed your studies a maximum of 12 months ago in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or Automation or in related engineering departments.

Due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA students: You have to provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory and upload it together with your application documents. Furthermore, you have to be enrolled during the entire internship period.

In addition, you bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Advanced skills in Robotics, Automation, and Image Processing Systems
  • You should also have excellent knowledge and interest in software and programming
  • Experience in 3D-CAD
  • Practical flair and a certain amount of manual skills are required to set up and test the systems and concepts
  • Experience in dealing with autonomous systems in the medical field or logistics is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English: simplifying complex information and presenting them to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • The candidate should be passionate, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • You are open and curious in an environment with the latest technology and enjoy working in a professional and international team
  • Impeccable ethics and integrity

Mentors:
Each intern will have a dedicated mentor within technology to assist in guiding the interns through their daily functions and help them navigate the working world in a corporate environment.
