Internship in Surrogate Modelling of Power Converters 80 - 100% (f/m/d) Nouveau
The opportunity
The System and Automation team at the Swiss research center is looking for an intern student with expertise in machine learning, computational science, or power electronics to contribute to the development of next generation of power converters for energy storage, renewables, and data-center applications. You will interact with dynamic and multidisciplinary teams that will supervise and guide the project. If you have strong technical background, motivation to develop innovative solutions, and you are goal-oriented, this is your opportunity to contribute to a stronger and more sustainable energy future. The duration of the internship is six months.
How you’ll make an impact
- Support technology development and research activities in ML-design applied to control systems for power electronics converters
- Perform state-of-the-art analysis and technology reviews. Benchmark the achieved results against state-of-the-art solutions for the given application
- Develop design codes and simulation prototypes to assess the performance of the control system under different operating conditions
- Disseminate and report your results with the teams, write technical documentation, propose creative and efficient solutions towards industrial implementation.
Your background
- Enrolled in an MSc program in Machine Learning, Applied mathematics or Computational science, Control and Automation Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field
- Solid background in applied machine-learning techniques, computational science, or control for power electronics converters
- Experience in Python programming and / or simulation tools for power electronics design and control (Simulink, PSCAD, PLECS) is strongly appreciated
- Excellent communication skills, team player attitude, initiative, and creativity
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
