Who we are:

Pharma Early Development is an exciting field in biomedical research that is central to deliver innovative medicines to patients. At Roche this involves working with colleagues across disciplines to integrate activities along the spectrum of development from the lab to patients, including Portfolio development, Research, Biomarkers and Translational Technologies. This Fellowship will give candidates the opportunity to experience cutting edge drug development and to gain experience in drug development from a Medical Director perspective.

What we offer:

This program will enable candidates to acquire hands on experience in Early development, and to be directly involved in the clinical development of therapeutic compounds in a Large and Rare indications in Neuroscience and closely work with Patient Partnership, Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Operations and Regulatory. The program will be adapted according to the candidate’s background and interest, to integrate the candidate within active programmes at Roche, and enable them to develop areas of interest and gain new industry-specific skills with the guidance of a career mentor. The programmes primarily involve active learning in the setting of observation, enquiry and project work.

What your tasks will consist of:

  • Participate in core responsibilities of clinical science and understand the role of different functions within Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED)
  • Observe and support ongoing projects within the therapeutic area of the department (NRD)
  • Contribute to key steps of drug development including strategic planning (e.g. clinical development plan, target product profile), preparation of Study material (e.g. study protocol), internal and external meetings (e.g. Investigator meeting, Scientific Advisory Meeting)

  • Collaborative work with different functions including Research, Biomarkers and Clinical Scientists, Patient Partnership, Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Operations and Regulatory and to plan and implement study activities such as clinical endpoints and study design
  • Presentation at internal and external meetings
  • Interaction with senior leadership and patient associations

Coaching and guidance from managers and peers (incl. mentorship program) will be provided and opportunities to publish work will be encouraged, based on the candidate’s output during the fellowship!

Furthermore, you bring the following qualifications:

  • Degree in Medicine (MD) and specialty training in neurology, psychiatry, geriatrics or pediatrics
  • Experience in research required (PhD degree, or appropriate list of publications). Academic position (e.g. Assistant Professor) is desirable
  • Intention to become a world-leading Medical Director/Scientist in Neuroscience & Rare disease
