Lea’s Journey: Balancing an Audit Career at KPMG with Ironman Training
Meet Lea - Assistant Manager in Audit Corporates at KPMG Switzerland & Endurance Athlete

Beyond her role at KPMG, Lea is passionate about sports. She runs daily, trains across multiple disciplines, and even competes in Ironman races. To make it all work, she wakes up early, runs during lunch breaks, and takes advantage of flexible work options.
We caught up with her during one of her cycling classes at Velocity Zurich. These classes not only help her to stay active, but also balance her demanding Audit career. For Lea, maintaining a work-life balance is key staying fit keeps her focused, even during the busiest times.

Tell us more about your roles outside of work
“I teach the ON run club in Zurich once a week. We go for a run with a group of people, and I teach classes at Velocity Switzerland. This allows me to share my passion for sports and movement with people.”
What inspired you?
“I believe it's essential for anyone working in an office and sitting all day to stay active and keep moving.”
How do you keep the balance?
“Organization is key! I usually start my day early, fitting in a workout or teaching classes at Velocity in the morning. If I don’t train then, I make the most of my lunch breaks by going for a run—and do the same in the evenings. Sometimes, instead of after-work drinks, I opt for a run with friends.”

“I’d say that even when work gets busy, KPMG provides me with the flexibility to choose where and when I work.”
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
“Passing the Swiss CPA and completing my first full Ironman in the same year.”
Any tips for work-life balance?
“An Ironman might seem impossible when you look at the whole challenge, but when you break it down into individual disciplines, it becomes manageable. The same applies to work - tackling a big project can feel overwhelming at first. Instead of focusing on the entire task, take it step by step. Progressing gradually makes even the toughest goals achievable.”
