The holidays are just around the corner, and that doesn't just mean a cosy Christmas atmosphere, but often also stress. You're juggling between studying, exams and deadlines. But how can you manage this stress and enjoy the festive season at the same time? Here are some tips.

Strategies for coping with stress

Time management is the key to success: plan your study and break times. A well-structured plan will help you stay on top of things and avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Breaks are important: take regular breaks. A short walk, a bit of fresh air or just a few minutes of peace and quiet can work wonders. Why not take a leisurely stroll through a Christmas market during your break and reward yourself with a hot drink or something tasty to eat?

Set yourself realistic goals: Don't try to do everything at once. Plan goals for each day and each week that you can actually achieve.

Exchange ideas with others: Talk to your fellow students, exchange ideas and support each other. A joint study session can also go a long way. It doesn't always have to be in the library or at home. Try a cosy café in the city for a change of scenery. They have a great atmosphere, especially in the evening during the Christmas period.

Mindfulness exercises can help you: Try meditation or yoga. Such exercises are useful for calming your mind and improving your focus.

Organising learning and relaxation

Strictly separate study and relaxation times: set fixed times for studying and relaxing. This prevents the two from getting mixed up and you can neither recover properly nor learn effectively.

Adapt the learning environment to your preferences: Not everyone finds absolute silence best for learning. Organise your study space the way you feel most comfortable. Whether that's quiet and tidy or with a little background music – the important thing is that it's right for you and that you can concentrate.

Make the most of the holidays: The holidays offer you the opportunity to switch off. Use this time to go ice skating, bake biscuits, watch Christmas films, etc. to relax and recharge your batteries.

Plan a day for Christmas shopping: Deliberately take a day to get all your presents. This will help you avoid last-minute stress and allow you to concentrate better on your other tasks.

Last but not least

The festive season is a special time – it can be both wonderful and relaxing, but sometimes also challenging. However, with the right strategies and thoughtful preparation, you can not only master this time, but also enjoy it. Happy holidays and good luck!
