The opportunity

Join our research team at Hitachi Energy in Baden-Dättwil and contribute to the future of sustainable energy. As part of a project focused on HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) systems, you will help model the reliability and availabil-ity of key components that connect renewable energy sources to distant power grids.

You’ll work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and gain hands-on experience in reliability engineering and statistical modeling for 6 - 12 months. Please submit your full application in English.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Develop statistical models for HVDC system reliability
  • Create stochastic models for HVDC station components
  • Analyze reliability data from power systems
  • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential issues in HVDC systems
  • Document and share results with research and business teams
  • Support knowledge transfer across teams and collaborators
  • Contribute to sustainable energy infrastructure
  • Work independently and creatively on technical challenges in collaboration with engineering and data sci-ence experts

Your background

  • Enrolled in a M.Sc. in electrical, power, mechanical engineering, physics or applied mathematics
  • Understanding of components used in alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) systems, such as con-verters and cooling systems
  • Experience in reliability engineering and statistics
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Able to work autonomously and think creatively
